functional weakness?

functional weakness?

hi im looking for more information on functional weakness?
im 26y/o female and was diagnosed in dec 2010. im not showing signs of much improvement.,i am staying positive and focusing on being back to normal.
does anyone know of time limits as to when people have recovered, or are they still trying to recover.
a have seen a lot of medical staff who do not understand this, and it is due to lack of information about function weakness, i have spasms and blackouts, i forget things. i.e. where i am heading to or if im doing something i can suddenly forget what it is i am doing. my left side can go weak and droop like iv had a stroke, im wondering if anyone medical or non medical people can let me know if they or if they know of someone going through the same thing.

thank you.

hi, i have had a number of tests done and was in hospital for 2 weeks when it first started, my neurologist took everything into account i have seen him 3 times since it first started.
i know my nervous system on the right side if my brain is not working correctly, its not damaged, just not working.
the neurologist done all kinds of test including lumber puncture to xrays and one called the hoovers test.
i have had a lot of medical issues in the past 7 years, and he thinks my brain has got stressed out with my latest health problem causing the 'functional weakness' know one can know for sure why this happens, it just does. well as far as im led to believe by my doctors. i have a thyroid problem along with other things and i did ask if it happened because of the medication i was on, as it happened the same week they started me on this new medication to help with the thyroid, but he assures me that it was not what caused it.
he talks with a neurologist that studies functional weakness at the western general hospital in edinburgh. he has a website set up for information on this. it is the only website i have came across that lets you know, that you are not crazy it is real and not all in your head.
sometimes it can get to you, as you know that your leg and arm should move when you try to tell it to, but it doesnt. thank you for your feed back, anymore would be most appreciated.
