Hello Ivo,
In general, glioblastoma multiforme is under the catagory of malignant astrocytoma which is a kind of primary brain tumors.  The age at onset is usually 40-60 years.  Several prognostic variables have been identified.  A duration fo symptoms greater than 6 months, the presence fo seizures, and a high ppostoperative performance status correlate with a better prognosis.
In addition to surgery, the treatment modelities include chemotherapy and radiotherapy.  The newer options, some of which are still under investigation, include immunotherapy and genetic modification.  The latter ones may well represent the future direction of brain tumor management.
If you like to discuss further about your specific condition, feel free to make appointment with Dr. Bruce Cohen, who is a neuro-oncologist in our department.
