hard lips after lip augmentation??

hard lips after lip augmentation??

I had a "lip lift" lip augmentation 2 years ago...when I got them done, they felt very hard and stiff.  I was told by my doctor that this is normal and that it would go away (get soft) anywhere from 6 months to a year.  Well, it's been 2 years and my lips still feel very hard and stiff...I also have bad burning sensations.   IT'S HORRIBLE!!!  In case no on knows what a lip lift is...it requires an incision along the border of the upper lip.  Once the incision is made the doctor removes a tiny strip of skin where the upper and lower lip meets.  The lip edge is then pulled taut and stitched into it's new position.    (I had both top and bottom lips done.)  I have NO fillers or injections.
I went back to my doctor about my problem and he said there is nothing I can do and that I am stuck with this problem.  I don't know if there was any nerve damage or what exactly is causing this.  Nerve damage is the only thing I can think of.  If anyone has any advice, please let me know.  I am in desperate need of help.
