hashimotos's encephapathy????

I have had 2 acute episodes in the past few weeks of severe weakness in both arms and legs, first with very bad nausea , 2nd nausea was a little less severe.  Have Hashimototo's thyroiditis, and have had for many years.  Paralysis like symptoms go away in arms first, after a couple of hrs., disappear somewhat from legs after 5 or 6 hrs but  some weakness seems to remain in leg still.  Had a lot of cramping in toes and calf muscles past month or 2 which is very unusual for me.  CT head scan showed nothing I'm told.  Also TSH and free T3, T4 in normal range.  Was diagnossed with periipheral neuropathy for about 3 years before these attacks started and have been on medication for surface (in skin) type pain in feet and shin and also burning.  Weird thing is that since the first attack PN symptoms seem to have disappeared.  I have been unable to get a diagnosis of what is wrong, other than one neuroplogies saying he's thinking it's something that my mind is inducing, which he says does not mean it's not happening, just not caused by physical problems, I guess.  I keep reading that Hashimotos"s encephapathy causes weakness on only the right side, and I did have this symptom in an episode 15 years ago.  Was told then that it was basilar migraine.  If the past 2 episodes created weakness on both sides, can I rule out hasimoto's encephapathy?  Thanks for any help.  I'm feeling really desperate.  By the way, I'm a 63 yr old female.
