head (brain) problems...

I fell down my stairs and thought i only hit my knee. I hit the wall hard enough that my jeans left a mark (like a grass stain) within 10 days i had started having dull constant headaches and when I turned my head sharply a sharp shocking pain would happen on the left side of my head behind by ear. I literally wince and say "oh". i went to Urgent care, they called the ambulance as my left side seemed weaker then right. after a CTscan and hours of waiting, I was sent home and diagnosed with Post Concussive syndrome.  I am on Fiorinol and told to rest and don't move my head and the pain wont happen. ok...  so here I am about a week and half later and now when I nod the pain happens and my dull headache is much more sharp and constant. I am not really dizzy but I am fuzzy, if that makes sense. I am irritated because my brain is not firing as quick as it normally does, I am having to really think things through and jumble my words. I am going back for a follow up with my primary, but I always feel as though I am being brushed off.... suggestions?

Thank you for your question. Although without being able to examine you, I can not offer you the specific advice on diagnosis and treatment that you need, but I would try to provide you some relevant information about your health concern.

Usually, such symptoms may result due to post-concussion syndrome and may last for weeks or months after the injury that caused from the injury of a fall, vehicle accident, or sports injury.  For treatment approach, first it is essential to get (MRI) done to detect the brain or spinal abnormalities after that injury. Treatment commonly may be suggested for symptoms such as pain-killers, some antidepressants, physical therapy and regular exercises. If you suffer continuous headache, please arrange an appointment with a neurologist right away who will evaluate the possibilities here and can provide you an appropriate treatment. Further referral to a psychologist may be also helpful in order to treat usual anxiety or depression after such injuries (sometimes one may have) that may be one of the aggravating factors for persistent symptoms. Hope this information proves helpful to you. Take Care & Regards!!!

Don't move your head and the pain won't happen? That reminds me of the man that goes into his doc office and sys"Doc, its hurts when I do this" and the doc says " Well stop doing that, that will be $50.00 That's absurd! I would follow up with a neurologist the sooner the better, You definiately have some problems you need addressed, good luck to you!
