Hello.

This could be a post-concussion syndrome. You have to take bed rest. But you ahould also start doing some more activities now, which you used to do earlier. (as the pain permits)

You are expected to recover in about 6 weeks. Take analgesics to relieve pain. Avoid stress. It increases the symptoms of PCS.

Hi Shazzies,
Have you got a MRI done of your cervical region?
If not, I feel you should be doing that. The recovery is usually 6 weeks, but can also get prolonged depending upon the type of injury and extent of injury.
Are you doing physiotherapy?
You should be doing physiotherapy to avoid disuse atrophy of muscles.
Hope this helps you.
Bye.

Hi ,

Thanks for your advice, I havent had any tests at all besides the basic check at A & E ,  I was thinking of going back to the Doctors again next week but, i could be recovered in another 2 or so weeks couldnt I. I think im trying to convince myself that im going to be better quite soon,  I am trying not to bend and so on but its quite impossible not to unless i do nothing besides walking and watching Tv, its not being able to do normal things that worries me, the feeling sick that i have when i do anything, and bad head and neck, i have to get better i miss living how i do, im not doing any physio when i went to the Doctors last week he just gave me a sick note for work and said you should be ok for work in 4 weeks, Thanks again

Hi, ive seen my doctor today, and he has referred me to see a neurologist, said it would be 3 to 4 weeks wait, I would like to add that i have been resting up, my Hubby as been doing all cooking and cleaning for a wee while until today ,i thought i ll try an hoover to see how i feel , well that was it i felt terribly sick and had pressure in my head and right side of neck. ended up in bed for a couple of hours, having to sleep on my right side of neck to ease neck pain, it seems to become worse on bending, anyway not much i can do now until i see neurologist,What could this be? thanks

Hi Shazzies,
What is your name? Is shazzy your name?
Well, I feel there is decreased blood supply happening to your brain while you are doing work or bending. Due to decreased blood supply, it leads to hypoxia and then heaviness.
I think they are carotids which are getting affected.
You should be seeing a neurologist at earliest and imaging studies including MR Angio to come close to diagnosis.
Bye.

Hi, just want to add that i have been wearing the neck collar today and i cant believe how much pain releif it as given me, i think i should have worn one weeks ago,

Hi Sharon,
It's nice that you are feeling better after neck collar.
It says that your carotids are getting affected, hence after wearing neck collar the compression is relieved.
I feel you should be getting an MR scan done of your cervical region as early as possible.
Keep me informed about your disease progression.
Bye.

Hi, heres an update ive been back to A & E they said probably post concussion syndrome, although i know im not dying from any Brain injury, they said go back to your Doctor. I went back to my Doctors for stronger painkillers for my neck,  co-codamol very strong but they dont do anything, yesterday i saw the emergency doctor who said try taking co-codamol with diclafenic tablets to see if that helps, if that doesnt help then he said you will need to be admitted to hospital for further investigation, i took tablets last night and this morniing, whilst this as eased my head pressure, this as not helped my neck, and i still feel sick, i have had this sickness feeling for 6 weeks now, i am feeling weakness in my hands and wrists ,
but my strength is still  there which is wierd, also when the Doctor checked my neck i was able to move my neck to the left ,right, and down to my chin, but when the Doctor tilted my head back it felt like the top of my spine was penetrating my brain thats how painfull it was , it made me cry,

Just need to add that these recent tablets i have been told to take only ease the head pressure when im laying in bed, if im sitting or standing it doesnt help, thanks

Hi,Some progress at last, i was given a x ray of the neck area and that was clear, Doctor said i had muscle ligament and nerve strain and i needed pysio urgently,he said it was because my spine had been overstretched, anyway pysiotherapist gave me gentle exercises to do which have helped, when i gently tilted my head back this morning it seemed to be easing up though that one exercise does tend to make me feel sick and dizzy still, im just waiting now to see neurologist. The pysiotherepist said i probably have nerve damage, Isnt it frightening how powerful your mind is when your unwell one can convince yourself you have all sorts wrong with you. I just want to add if i may this whole thing as knocked me right off my feet, im just glad i came across this website for your wonderful advice,
