head pain

I have had head pain on top of my head since 1977.  I have seen every kind of DR. there is out there.

Thank you for comment. For several years the Drs. did not know the cause of this pain.  Some thought it was migraine and have tried several meds for migraine, and they did not help. The last year the pain has increased and my head feels like it is in a vice and the pain is almost unbearable. I really don't know who to turn to.

Thank you for responding to my question.  Back in 1977, I  was forty years old. I did have migranes abour 4 times a year.  They were severe and I did vomit and sleep on the cold bathroom floor. After I stopped taking hormone pills the migranes went away. I started to fell like I had a tight band around my  head all the time from morning to night.  I started on my rounds to different DR..  Had everything checked out. I did have cat scans and several mri over the years.Everything came back normal.  I was put on Elivil and celexca.  I believe the Elevil helped for a while.  Than a pattern set up and I would have a bad  tight headache every other day. I lived like this for several years.  
My primary Dr. does not know how to treat this, but I do keep up with
blood work every six months. I have seen may headache speclist and have not had good results.  I have accupuncture every now and than when I can afford it. I also see a chripractioner once amonth.  This mainly for some arthritis in my spine.  I spend as much time as I can in a pool at the ymca This really is helping alot.  Since last spring the pain has gotten worse and I find myself missing out on life.  I am no 73 yrs , old, retired and have no other health problems.  Just not sure where to turn to now.

Dear Circleknit, welcome to medhelp forum. I can understand your frustration but you need to tell us more about your condition. There are various causes of headache and need to be checked one by one to find what’s causing this longstanding symptom. You must have been checked if you have hypertension, chronic rhinosinusitis, migraines and tension headaches. It is important to know the severity, pattern of headache and any associated symptoms. An MRI brain and spine would help looking for any important causes like idiopathic intracranial hypertension, chiari syndrome, tumors or aneurysm. a disc degeneration or prolapsed in the cervical spine can also be responsible for this chronic headache.
I cannot comment upon further without checking you up clinically.
I suggest that you consult a GP for a detailed clinical evaluation.

Neuralgia? I started having burning pain and a pins and needles sensation last Jan. And so far it hasn't let up and has taken over my life. What have drs. Told you over the years about it?
