headache after bacterial meningits

headache after bacterial meningits

During a neurosurgery to repair a herniated disc, surgeon reportedly caused a tear in the dura mater.  The subsequent CSF was extremely painful and ultimately required the placement of a drain. After 4 days with the drain, I developed fever, severe headache and neck pain. LP revealed "turbid fluid" with abnormal chemistry values of CSF.  Treatment with Cefapime was not effective so antibiotic was changed to Vancomycin. CSF normalized after serum levels of Vanc were titrated. No bacteria identified, likely due to pre-operative antibiotics, but is presumed to have been MRSA.  Have done reasonably well since but now left with debilitating headaches. What is the likelihood these headaches are associated with the meningitis and how can I gain relief from them?
