My husband is 39 and in general good health. He has been complaining of headaches that move from front to back and back to front on the sides of his head, pressure- like someone is pushing down on the top of his head, dizziness, a constant motion sickness feeling, inability to concentrate and focus -- for a little over a month now. I finally talked him into going to family dr and family dr ordered lab work and an MRI. Lab work came back normal except for ALT and AST were elevated; ALT=83, AST=40. MRI report as follows;
The ventricles and sulci are normal. No definite signal abnormalities are noted in the brain or brainstem. On axial T2 and FLAIR sequences, there are very tiny slightly curvilinear areas of apparent increased signal in the white matter of both parietoocipital lobes. No other signal abnormality is noted in the brain or brainstem and no mass or enhancing lesion is seen.
Impression: The only questioned abnormailityis tiny areas of signal in the white mater of both parietooccipital lobes that probably relate to posterior extensions of the occipital horns of the lateral ventricles rather than tiny white matter lesions. The exam is otherwise normal.
Family doctor ordered MRA due to MRI results and MRA was 'unremarkable'
My question is
If tiny areas in white matter are not 'normal' what could they be? A cyst possibly?
Are elevated ALT and AST related to MRI results?
Is this something we should pursue further? If so, how, with what other testing? Spinal tap?
My husband does not drink or smoke. Is not taking any medications.
Thank you for your help.
