headaches

Hi, I'm 21 years old & for the past 3 years I have had constant reoccurring headaches. Sometimes they can be very bad, but other times they are just a slight pain through out the day. I normally have either one every day. They get really bad when I go to bed and when I wake up, which makes it very difficult to get up in the mornings. I can feel weak at times from this. My scalp becomes sore as well. I feel the pain consistently on the top of my head, even right now. I have gone to my doctor and I know that many things can cause headaches and such. I also have a case of TMJ. It has actually gotten worse over the years. One question I've always wondered is if Coffee can have this huge of an effect? I def. don't go over 1 cup sometimes skipping a couple days in between.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

hi rachel,
it's purely stress induced phenomenon. there is a new trend of YOGA in the western world. Maybe you can try taking some classes on it. Or even try meditation.
Headaches are a constant problem to people involved in stress work.
It's also better to have a good family physician, who can help you in time of need,
Regards

Thank you for your quick response to my post. I def. have a busy job, it could be stress, but I dont feel too stressed. I've had  reoccuring headaches for the past couple of years. I've only had this job 1 year. I went to a doctor and she said to record when I have them and what I ate/drank that day/ weather etc.

Do you know anything about "coffee" headaches? I am not going to drink it for a while so I Can rule that out.

I know if you drink coffee on a daily basis, you can get withdrawls from it if you STOP drinking it and it can cause headaches for some people. Do you notice if you have the headaches on days you don't drink any coffee? Don't stop all at once, just drink a little less each day and then quit completely....?

Your first cervical verebrea, called the atlas, is often referred to as the headache bone.  When it is out of alignment it can challenge the muscles in your scalp and give you those nasty headaches.  It often makes your scalp muscles sore as well.  If you sleep on your back it can help.  On your side is better, but if you are a stomach sleeper, you are really stressing your neck and shoulders.  Find a GOOD chiropractor who is not a pain doc.  One that is subluxation based cares about your nervuos system.  I am not a chiro, but after years of debilitating headaches, I am a true believer!
