help for my mom

Hello, Can anyone suggest soemthing to help my Mom? She is 70y/o and has gradually developed these insiduous little intermittant problems. She has forgotton where she was while driving a couple of times. She says she can't concentrate long enough to read. She gets frustrated and irritable more esily. Today, she couldn't figure out a subtraction problem. "too many 8s and 9s" she said. She just blows off any suggestion to mention these things to the Dr. In fact she gets angry when it is mentioned. I know what these  symptoms seem like but is there anything I may be missing or need to check before we assume the worst? I know progression can be slowed but like I said she refuses to go to the Dr. Thanks for any alternate suggestions.

Classic early dementia in some form.
Inability to concentrate, lost in familiar surroundings, frustration, irritibility outside of normal character, and basically all-round confusion. If this is early stage - there are medications to help buy time and get her back to normal for awhile yet. Best wishes 2U.
