thanks.. he was diagnosed to have vertigo but our neurologist said that his dizziness is not connected with any ear abnormalities.. we'll try your advice.. thanks!
Well, his heart murmur CAN cause lightheadedness, but also a bunch of other symptoms if the valve problem gets worse, like shortness of breath, fatigue. So, I'm thinking IF his "dizziness" is not so much lightheaded, but rather a loss of balance, then try going to an ear nose throat ENT doctor, he'll check out your husband's inner ears to see if anything abnormal is going on, like an infection. If the inner ear is in trouble, a person will get "vertigo." This is the sensation that the world is spinning, he is spinning, he might feel like he's going to fall down, and he might even fall down. Even if he doesn't describe his sensation that way, it won't hurt to go to an ENT. There are many reasons for his "severe dizziness," like a sinus infection, which the ENT would be expert in, too. A couple other causes of his dizziness could be a problem in his cervical spine, like a disc pushing on a nerve, so an additional scan of his neck might be in order, or maybe be he has an infection elsewhere in his body, like meningitis, so a more comprehensive blood test or spinal tap could be done.
