i have recently been diagnosed with peripheral neuropathy, i was informed it is possibily genetic, as my mother had suffered with it for many years, my neuropathy has been slowly changing over a period of 5 years, i first seemed to have it when i had an extremely bad fall from a ladder from about 7ft high to the floor, landing awkwardly, the tingling and numbness in my feet and fronts of legs, i put down to the fall, i was told by one doctor that it would take a year for my condition to get better, and it was put down as ripping my tendons. i have always had pain, numbness and burning in my feet, the past 6 months or more, i have experienced groin pain, anything sinister has been ruled out with a scan, i have had stabbing pains in the backs of my legs, restless leg syndrome, mainly left leg, weakness in my legs, balance problems which were put down by a doctor as a "worn out neck" thus the dizzy spells, even "vertigo" was mentioned. i wasnt at all satisfied with any of these diagnosis, and have recently changed my doctor, even my new doctor said it was probably a "worn out neck" .  i recently have had bad back pain in the lower region of my back, ciatic pain in my buttock, electric shock feelings going up through my hands...cold hands...feeling of freezing, when all the house is hot. will this condition necessarily be passed onto my daughter, or my son... my mother had this from about the age of 50 something, i have contracted it around about the same time, but put mine down to the accident i had, because before that, i had none of these symptons. my son has quadriplegia cerebral palsy, and is wheelchair dependent, and totally dependent upon me...i am worried about my caring role with my son, how this will affect me, and i am concerned for my daughter, if she will inherit it...i have not told my children about this yet, and wanted some advice first.  i also would like to know if anybody knows what sort of foods trigger a worse attack, or what foods are good to eat.  i forgot to mention, it is very painful to walk, i seem to feel everything under foot, and my feet and ankles burn up, i sometimes feel light headed, and worry about leaving a safe secure wall that i may lean upon for security because my balance makes my head feel like feathers. please can anybody help with my questions and with anything i have said.  i do not take any medications, and neither feel that i would, i would worry it would not give me total control with my responsibility as a carer/mother. i have not been to see a neuro doctor as of yet, i am waiting for my blood tests to come back..my last tests did not show any diabetes or anything else.
