hip pain with harrington rods

I am 39 years old and had scoliosis repair in 1982 in Savannah, GA. I will have to research the records to see what parts of my spine were fused with the Harrington rod. I have since given birth via C-section to 3 sons and have been a very active adult. I run around 28 miles/week and have taught aerobics for years. I also am a speech therapist for the Preschool population. I have been fine up until the last few months. I am having severe lower back pain especially when I get up out of a small chair or get up off of the floor. I can barely straighten up my lower back. Also, my hips hurt (dull ache) almost constantly. They hurt right on top of the joints. I have an appt. with an orthopedic surgeon on Thursday. I can run, but pay the price the next day. I am popping Glucosamine Chondrontrin (m.s.) on a daily basis and it does help some. Any advice would be great!!!!
