horrific night terrors???

Not sure if this is the right place to ask about this..  but.. i think its my best bet..

I have been having what i think are night terrors... last night was a horrible one..

i fell asleep very quickly.. then.. according to my husband.. about 20-30 minutes later.. i lept out of bed.. screaming "Help me!!" and fell to the floor.. heart pounding.. i was sooo scared .. i dont think i have ever been that afraid like that.. once everything settled down.. i was pretty much ok .. this has been happening alot more lately... i dont know if its from lack of sleep.. or if something is wrong with a connection in my brain.. its almost like two paths that are supposed to meet arent doing that.. like somethng is misfiring or something.. and its only right after i fall asleep.. its sooo scary!!

i am currently 33 weeks pregnant..and while i dont have any idea WHY i lept out of bed.. or WHY i woke up like that all the sudden..i know that if i was really awake i would not have been able to jump out of bed like that.. and freak out like that.. it was like i coulnt breath. i was afraid.. when i started to calm down i realized that i was pregnant. and it scared me .. because i dont want to hurt the baby.

does anyone else have night terrors?? what are they like for you ? should i go to a sleep study/?? any idea WHY this happens??

Something similar happens to me. It's always soon after I fall asleep... just as I am going into a deeper sleep and my heart starts racing. Sometimes I will bolt out of bed and the whole bed will be shaking from my heart pounding so hard. I always think I am dying and it takes me a few minutes to realize "oh, it's THAT again". Then I go back to sleep and usually does not reoccur. My cardiologist had me a wear a holter and it showed Tachycardia but we don't know why it occurs. I did research it online and some people have this Tachycardia triggered by the change in sleep pattern. It's very disturbing but hasn't killed me yet :) so I assume it's okay.

It is possible it's caused by sleep apnea. And since you're carrying precious cargo I would not hesitate to call your dr. and go for a sleep study if he/she feels it necessary.

Good Luck
