hydrocephalus

hi i am a 25yr old with spina bifida an also had a shunt put in at 1wk old an still have the same 1 in now but wen i was 17 they said it looks like its not needed anymore as ive had no problems with it, i have no broken it apart inside me about 3wks ago so im seein a neurologist next week to see if they want to take it out or leave it in? i wanted to know would they have to take it out or can they leave it in for good still as its not doin any harm? thnks joanne x
