hypersensitivity

I am pretty sure this is neurological. First, I have had restless legs syndrome since I was little. It has gotten worse as I have gotten older. I am 45 now. I can get it just in my legs or whole body. It isn't pain, just creepy crawly and I take meds. For awhile now, maybe over a period of 10 years, I have noticed that I am super hypersensitive to touch, especially my legs which can cause them to start "acting up". But the biggest problem is, I don't even want my husband to touch me. It just "bugs" me for lack of a better word. I have been happily married for 23 years. All he has to do is put his arm around me and I cringe. I know it has something to do with hypersensitivity. The one thing that is strange is that, when I take a shower or a bath or wash dishes, I need the hottest water I can stand. Any ideas? Btw, it isn't pain, just creepy crawly. I take mirapex due to the fact that all the other restless legs meds I've tried don't seem to work.

Hi there. pramipexole is a non ergoline dopamine agonist given for treatment of restless leg syndrome. Certain of its side effects also like hyperalgesia or feeling exaggerated aches and pains and hallucinations of feeling things that are not there could be contributing to your hyper sensitivity to touch. The crawling sensation arises from you falling asleep on a particular limb, a nerve entrapment syndrome, stroke, encephalitis, transverse myelitis, and multiple sclerosis can all cause crawling sensations. Consult a neurologist for a detailed assessment of these symptoms as this could be anything from the above conditions involving nerves and causing paraesthesiae .take care.

I would like to help, but unfortunately I don't have any ideas. I do want to let you know though, that especially on week-ends, it seems that posts can go unaddressed for a while, so please give it some time. I am sure you will get replies that are both helpful and will give you comfort. This is a great place. If you just need to talk to someone though, I can help with that.
