U should always start with seeing ur dr.U can have a sinus infection.Ur dr will need to see u to rule things out.If needed he/she may send u for labwork and tests.Depending on the results u may be refered to a NL , NS or ENT.

The most important thing is to try and relax aas stress can cause u to feel worse.

Good luck
Godspeed

NL= neurologist and NS= neurosurgeon
U said April u had a scan of ur brain...a CT?OR was it an MRI, w/wo contrast?...If not an MRI, ask for one w/wo contrast!

Not being a dr, I can not begin to say what u have, but ur symptoms r similar to mine....things I was tested fro to rule things out were:
MS....Lupus......Lymes.....and they found chiari.

In the meantime ask when ur last labs were done.....if they're needed make sure u have the following done...vit B12, D.....and ur calcium, magnesium, potassium.Low levels can cause alot of ur symptoms also.
Oh and have ur thyroid checked also.

If u haven't already, when u have tests and labwork, request copies and the reports. This way when u go to a new dr u have all ur info....it is alot easier.

If u want u could look up some of the conditions I mentioned and see if u fit the symptoms and suggest it to ur dr.

Most of the conditions have a forum here, and each forum has health pages with info on the conditions....if u can't find them all....just google them.

Good luck
Godspeed

your symptoms sound like intracranial hypertension, a.k.a pseudotumor cerebri. it is increased cerebral spinal fluid that's in your head and it causes seriously bad headaches, can cause vision disturbances, ringing/pain in the ears, nausea, light sensitivity, and neck pain. there are other things I'm sure I'm leaving out but those are the things I deal with, minus the eye distubances. that's under control. an eye exam can tell if youhave optic disc swelling, one telling sign of ih, but a spinal tap is the only way to really tell it for certainty. your opening csf pressure is read and if it is high then unfortunately you have ih. well as always this info is just something to think about and inform you. I hope you find your answers quickly. I know what it's like searching for answers and it *****.

Hi looby. Just thought Id give you my bit of  info.I have IIH but when it all first started 15 mths  ago every dr i saw said it was migraine. This went ontill July this yr  when I finally saw a neurologist and after numerous tests found out I had IIh. All scans ,MRI will show up clear with IIh and like Mamita said, you will need a lumber puncture to determine if it is IIH. Get your dr to make an app with a neuro as soon as possible. The very best of luck to you.Cath278.

Hi.....I know u said ur CT was clear, but if u r not convinced u have migraines and want to get a dx, MRI show more than a CT scan......

Always ask for copies of ur MRI, CT scans ect along with copies of the reports.

In order to dx ur headaches as migraines other conditons will need to b rules out.So, if ur dr gives u meds and u find no relief.,...ask for an MRI w/wo contrast .

I hope ur dr is going to help u with the pain.

Happy New Year!!

i got migraines and im on some medication and its working very well thanks

I too think you should get an MRI.  I had one because of Migraines and I have been DXed with Chiari and also a Pineal Cyst, both of which can cause bad headaches and other more serious problems.  I think Dr's DX migraines too often because it's an easy solution to something that might not be too easy.  Even after my DX I was given Migraine meds and told to watch what I eat, food triggers.

Sorry, but you really should only take what your doctor tells you at face value and always, always insit on getting as many tests done as possible.  When I got my occular migraine and the ER DR told me to have an MRI my primary DR told me I didn't need one because I was at the time 22 and according to him: "Too young to have anything seriously wrong with me."  So I called a week later and insisted on the MRI.  I had one and a week after he called and said you have Chiari (never mentioned the cyst) and said, "It's nothing to worry about".  Now three years later and several trips to the doctors I am told I should go on Prozac by one doctor but again, I took what he said at face value and through e-mail with my new PCP requested all the tests I knew I would need and am now scheduled to have brain surgery next month for my Chiari (after seeing to NS).  Chiari can cause paralysis and other serious and permanent probelms, but keep in mind my DR told me "it's nothing to worry about".

So please take Selma's advice and have an MRI done, get a copy of your film and report and take that and get a 2nd opinion.  This is YOUR health and you need to be responsible for it and you can't rely on doctors to do everything for you or be right 100% of the time.

Good luck!

Hi again. cath here. Im glad you are feeling better. What are you taking for the migraine? I suffer from them as well. I do agree with Selma and Redkim tho. I think you do need to get a MRI to comfirm the migraine, to be on the safe side.. IIH is Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertention. Thats what I have. I started off two years ago with my problems, first diagnosised with migraine, then TA,( Temporal Arteritis) where I was treated for a yr to find out in July this yr I actually have IIH! I never agreed with the first two diagnosises and had to fight them all the way till they found out what was really wrong.I reallydo hope that it is migraine and that these new meds work fotr you, but  find out for sure! All the best, Cath278

Are u sure u can't have a brain MRI due to clips on ur fallopian tubes??....can't they just pop ur head in??have u been told this??

there must b a way for them to look at u closer than just a CT.
