iatrogenic sciatic neuropathy

Fourteen months ago I had a high tibial osteotomy.  Three months later, after much
excruciating pain, I was diagnosed as having neuropathy secondary to the
tourniquette during surgery.  Tourniquette time was 112 minutes at 350 mm.
I am a small woman with not a lot of extra padding on me.  My neurologist
said that this can happen in smaller people.  My question is the following,
should the surgeon/anesthesiologist been aware that this was a potential
problem and not had the setting so high?  Thanks very much.  By the way, I
have had NO changes in nerve conduction or EMG studies since the diagnosis.
Am being told that prognosis for even some recovery is slim.
