infant's eyes 'sunsetting'

infant's eyes 'sunsetting'

Hi, my 10 week old nephew's eyes have the appearance of 'sunsetting' (more white showing on top of the iris/pupil than below) most of the time. I know that this can be an indication of hydrocephalus, but he is a fairly easy-going baby, so he does not display other common symptoms such as irritability. I am wondering if this is ever a 'typical' presentation for young infants, or if it is always a sign of possible neuro issues?

Thanks.

Hi,
Sun setting appearance of eyes in infant could be due to increase in intra-cranial pressure then causing hydrocephalus.
You need to visit pediatric neurologist for further intervention and for possible evaluation for raised intracranial pressure.
There can also be third nerve palsy.
Keep me posted I would be interested to follow up the case.
Bye.
