interesting condition

hello,
since i was a boy i have had an unusual condition. the only other person i know of that has this is my father. the condition is this. whatever i do with one of my hands my other hand does as well. so for instance if i scratch my head or rapidly open and close my left hand, my right hand will start to close and open. i have dubbed this my "imitation twitch". the twitch is not strong enouph to push a key on a keyboard but it is strong enouph to pull the trigger on a paintball gun (as i found out the hardway). the "imitation twitch" actually goes up to my elbows. when i carry something heavy with one hand the the mussles in both my arms clench up as if i were carrying it with both. since it has never caused any major difficulties in my life i have never seen a doctor, but was kinda curious about it.

Hi,

How are you?
Your symptoms are due to a condition called bimanual synkinesis. In this condition there is a mirror function of hands and other parts of the body. It is usually associated with hypogonandism and undescended testis and micro penis known as Kallman syndrome. Since you do not have any other symptoms this syndrome is an unlikely cause in your case.

I have seen this symptom listed several times in this forum.
I did a MedHelp search for "mirror hands"  and found a number of posts that may help your research.
