loss of balance and progressive hearing loss bilateral

by Ray163, Dec 11, 2008 02:24PM
Almost 21/2 months ago my journey started .
I was sitting down working at the computer and just turmed my head and felt like my glasses were too strong went to get in the car and felt to unbalanced to drive.
The next day went to urgent care as I was off balance and my ear felt full.  I was diagnosed with Vertigo given meclazine and sent home.  Tried that and two days later got up and almost fell,  back to urgent care my hearing was going fast in one ear.  Antibotics I asked for and still meclazine.  went to my PCP physician a week later .Now had lost hearing in both ears could still hear over the phone. referred to ENT by then I could barely walk had to have a wheel chair to be transported. given predisone 25 days step dow
Went for MRI and hearing test .Hearing bad MRI normal ,no tumor or stroke. So then took blood tests for autoimmune disease,  guess they were also normal.  Back to ENT another hearing test Hearing worse.Sent for a hearing aid no diagnosis.
When I went for the hearing test the audiologist saaid a hearing aid would work and I only needed one since the other ear sounded as I describe it like Mickey Mouse Hearing aid does not work cannot hear over the phone and only minimally other wise. Now all of my hearing is gone or I just can't hear any thing without a hearing aid and since Thanksgiving I have not been able to hear over the phone My good ear in the process I believe has become my bad ear.
Will have another hearing test next week may have to try another hearing aid.
I am being referred to a Neurologist since no one bothered to address my unbalance.  Can anything help I have to be helped to walk so I won't fall or to use a walker
