I slipped while cleaning my ears with a q-tip years ago. Pierced my ear and drained all the fluid in my head. After a couple years of drunk walk slurred speech and other anomalies related to ones awareness of position and motion. I have been to docs and clinics without much concern. Does anyone have any knowledge or experience in how this could affect a career skydive? Also I ask if anyone shares this symptom... I wake up during the night thinking there is an earthquake, or a train shaking the house. As I listen and feel I realize it's not the house it's my bed. Then as I become alert I think it's my body shaking, finally it becomes clear and it's just the beat of my heart. I have other less recognizable motion afflictions that I notice randomly. Thank you.

Can't believe so many people have this. I've been through dozens of tests over the last several years. Doctors can't come up with a thing. Has hit me the last two saturday nights and then fades by the end of the next week.
I am wondering if any of you were taking over the counter things before this started? Particularly, oral sexual enhancement drugs or the like. I know this sounds odd but I'd heard some of them actually cause blindness and the like. It would be good to have a study from all of you to find out if you started eating, taking, or living in a new area etc...seems like this community has a lot of the same symptoms. I have a relative suffering from this as well. It's hard to watch a 6'3" young male fall at the adjustment of his head.
- I have to walk holding onto a cane or holding onto the walls... I do vitamins and herbs and am careful with my diet.... If I turn my head to quickly I will fall.. I have been falling down the stairs and lose my balance very easily. I am under a doctors care for diabetes, but have that all under control. My blood pressure is normal.... but I often feel like someone gave me a push or a shove. I have to hold onto things or I will fall down. Sometimes I feel rather drunk... It is so frustrating. Hoping to find help....
My symptoms are identical to yours.....and worsening rapidly! I haven't yet had MRI or anything, but after following your thread I wonder if there's any point in incurring the expense. I'll certainly follow this thread with interest.
Hi I have the very same thing. I feel like I am drunk on whiskey or something all the time. Like tidal waves hitting me, like earthquake unsteadiness etc. No Dr seems to be able to figure it out. Sometimes I think it is related to food, but it basically is always with me. I have had it over a year. When I am still looking at a speaker, or studying etc., it's the worst. Have you gotten any reasons for yours yet? Are you highly stressed or have you been thru a tragedy or something. Some Drs think mine is stress-- This is too bad to be stress....I also have roaring in my ears and like a vibrating in my head and chest...56 yr old professional in relatively good heath-maybe 20 lbs over what I would like to be..--in case that is relevant.
Thanks, M
Taking alot of medication related to scoliosis 38 degree curve in lower spin and since Oct. 2007, left hip replaced 2 times & both knees replacedl Was actually starting to feel like myself again, when I began having equilibrium problems ... fall to left (almost feels weighted) when
up. No medication changes for last year. Loss of equilibrium seems to be accompanied by a headache in front of head and some dizziness with headache. Don't feel sinus problems/symptoms.
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Mary M.
I trust at this point that you are not diabetic and you aren't taking any medications for diabetes. Do you know what you vitamin B12 level is? Vitamin B12 serum test will alert you to your B12 level. You could be Vitamin B12 deficient. Also research prenocious anemia, which is a condition that presents itself as a result of B12 deficiency.
Gud luck . . . .Bweb
maybe should mention some of my history, suffer from hypoglycemia, bp is normal, correct weight for my age/gender, I am a cook, so i tend to eat really well....suffered a mild stroke when i was 18, cause unknown. THe symptoms only occur when i close my eyes, and i get a feeling of motion sickness when my eyes are closed. The same feeling occurs when i see strobe lights, or police lights, (the motion sickness)...
i have a severe feeling of my equilibrium being 'off', when i close my eyes, i feel like i am going to fall over, ususally happens when showering, i run into walls, doors, and objects even when i can see them coming. No pain is involved, just slight dizziness ocassionally, if standing in one spot for too long, or standing up too quickly. I am a healthy person, and when i can remember, take a multi-vitamin...
ataxia can be considered a symptom(like in ms) or used in terms of actual disease (i.e. Spinocerebellar Ataxia)
it can also be a side effect of certain drugs.
sometimes the origin is not found,
IF you have ataxia, sometimes but not always, there maybe atrophy of the cerebellum seen on mri. now, not all doctors or radiologists may even resongnise that. that is why i questioned your seeing a movement disorder specialist. preferably one who is versed in ataxia.
they did an mri on my head for ataxia, is that good enough?
in your first post you said they have done 'all' blood work, i am presuming you mean the Ataxia profiles were included? what about the antigliadin antibodies (gluten)? and have you been seen by a movement disorder specialist? if not , i think you should.
believe me, i understand how frustrating this must be for you.
my gait is jerky,my speech sometimes messed up, going on about 7 yrs. thank you.
do you have other symptoms? You mentioned your balance, but what about your gait?
and is your speech a problem?
ya know, sometimes doctors (and radiologist) miss things as plain as the nose on their facce if they do not know what they are looking at.
i don't know how long this has been going on to you, but if you are not getting answers, a second oppionion at a teaching hospital might be helpful.
i'm taking: omega oil, c,e, b12,b1. plus regular vit. the ear, nose, thro doc, did a theral exam of my ears, water in them, warm & cool. cked my eyes, etc. bp normal, have been to a neurologist. had an mri on my head. had 28 viles of blood taken for every test they could think of, including syphlis.
Hi,
Your problem can be due to two reasons 1)Neurological 2) ENT ,first let us rule out the less bothering cause, the ENT problem.Due to a middle ear problem you could experience such symptoms due loss of equilibrium which is maintained by the cochler apparatus in the middle ear,so check with an ENT specialist, secondly,I can think of a neuro cause,Please consult a neurophysician at the earliest.
Check for your Thyroid levels,a drowsy feeling will happen with hypothyroidism. Is your BP normal?or do you suffer low BP levels?Keep a check on that.
Consult a dietician and see if your have proper balanced diet, lack of cetain vitamins/minerals can make you feel drowsy too
Goodluck.
you didn't say much about your history , symptoms and tests you have had?
if it has progressed? there are some things that maybe treatable. and other things that unless the doctor knows what they are seeing, could be missed.
have been to a neurologist.
Your symptom could be related to a neurological or vestibular condition. You should consult a neurologist at the earliest possible time to check out your symptoms.
