many ms symptoms

by samsgam, Feb 09, 2008 01:19PM
TO Dr. Fong                                                                     Things started back in September for me. My bladder completely emptied itself while I was at work. I felt paralyzed to stop it, the muscle seemed not to be there. It happened again 2 days later, and one incident of fecal incontinence 2 wks earlier.I went to my dr. and he referred me to a urologist because of my history of chronic bladder infections and consistent blood in my urine. CT of bladder was negative. Cystoscopy was negative. Urologist said he saw uterine fibroids on the ct films (even though the ct report made no mention of fibroids) and this was my problem, go see a ob/gyn. 2 ultrasounds showed no fibroids and my ob/gyn said that even if there were, they would only cause urgency and leakage, not complete loss of control that i experienced. I am still waiting for an mri of the spine. head mri was negative. Other symptoms are what feel like muscle, deep muscle pain/spasm?? in thighs, calves, feet, arms, hands, and even lower abdominal area. sometimes they are just annoying, sometimes they hurt tremendously, enough to make me jump and catch my breath. They usually don't last long, they are fleeting. But sometimes several minutes. Last year, my left forearm and had hurt so bad for 3 weeks that I couldn't use it, basically the pain left me weak. I was tested for carpel tunnel and it was negative, pain went away and I never persued it. Now I wonder. Also experienced numbness/tingling in both feet for hours at a time during exercise, laying in bed, or at work. Numbness and tingling in hands at different times lasting for minutes to hours at a time. tingling sensation on my scalp a couple of times. Sharp pain in eyes, hard to explain, but deep in eye ball stabbing sensation. I have Lhermitts (i think that's how it's spelled), feels kind of like electrical shock sensation in my back, comes and goes, very annoying. That has been a problem for a long time, but never seemed worth reporting to a doctor as it is just annoying and not painful. But what is painful are my arm, hand and leg pains that nobody but me seems to be paying attention to. I am starting to feel like a hypochondriac, am I sensationalizing these symptoms? But I know in my heart, the pain is real. The loss of bladder control 5 mos ago was real. I finally have referral and appt with a neuro march 12. My concern is I have been told that if it is MS, and I am symptom free or in remission, that the MRI could come back negative. Is that true? And if so, then why isn't anybody moving quicker? If it is MS, and I am not being treated, could that cause the symptoms/disease to progress faster? Is there anything I can do that I am not doing to move things along? Please help if u can, I am so frustrated and scared. I work in healthcare, I DO NOT want MS, I have seen it at its worse. But I do want answers, so that I can move forward.
