medication and clinical trials

I have rrms and after being on avonex for 2 years and rebif for about 6 months I am currently not on anything, but am awaiting participation in a clinical trial.  Can you tell me what you know about anti interleukin-12?  Is this a synthetic substance, and if not, how is it made?  I stopped interferon therapy because of the side effects (avonex) and the bruising and injection site problems (rebif).  I am just wondering if I may run into similar problems with this investigational drug. The last 6 months I have enjoyed a much better quality of life with no medication at all - and of course, no flare ups either during that period. I must admit it has given me cause to consider taking my chances with no treatment at all.  I know that's probably not a wise choice but I truly was miserable - which is why I volunteered for the trial.  I'm hoping there is something else I can take that will be less disruptive. I work a full time plus a part time job and that too is a factor in my choice of treatment. Thanks for your time.

Sorry for the delay. The anti-interleukin 12 trials are only in safety and tolerability trials at this time, and therefore there is not much information available on it. IL-12 is involved in the inflammatory response, and I assume the agent is designed to block this. You will need to ask the investigator the specifics about possible side effects, and mechanism of action. However, I would recommend that you take some disease modifying agent. Good luck
