memory issues

I have a very bad memory. It affects my work. I cannot remember conversations from a few days ago. Emails people sent me. Everyone else remembers this stuff and it is gone. I think I have always been this way. I don't know if it has gotten worse or the job I am in makes it more apparent. I read that it may be related to ADHD, but my doctor said it isn't and I may want to see a neurologist. I am only 36. I have never had a head trauma. I eat a pretty healthy diet. I just had a physical and no issues at all.

In my opinion, bad memory is HIGHLY associated with ADHD.

Are you taking medication at this time?  Any therapy?

I am not quite sure about the referral to the Neurologist.

I didn't not say Psychiatrist, but Psychologist; not the same thing.  You can see a Psychiatrist too.  If you see a Psychologist, the Internist will have to manage the medication.

An Internist has more schooling than a General Practicioner or a Family Physician focused on learning to prevent diseases, diagnosing and treating adults which I think would be better for you.

Don't take it on the weekends?  Only take it when you go to work? What?  I would be consulting someone who knows what he or she is talking about like an INTERNIST OR A PSYCHOLOGIST.

There are higher doses, but like I stated in my earlier post, this drug is titred up slowly.  You just started taking it.

This physician you are seeing now doesn't sound like she knows what she is doing, sorry.

my doctor told me not to take it on weekends. Is it cummulative? She told me to only take it when I have to go to work.

I noticed a small improvement today. I feel a bit calmer, but I am still having trouble focusing and my mind wanders.

My doctor only gave me the 5mg. Aren't there higher doses? I am not sure my primary care physician knows alot about adhd. What kind of doctor would know stuff about this?

BTW:  It will probably take a couple of doses before you see an improvement.

What other symptoms are you having besides the "bad memory?"

Any medication can be dangerous to certain people; I don't get her comment; kinda lame.  Plus, why is she giving you Adderall, and she doesn't think you have ADHD?

Usually Adderall dosing is increased slowly, so, for instance, 5 mg twice a day to start is ok.  Are you taking the Adderall XR or IR?

In addition to the medications, behavior modification therapy is usually recommended as well; psychotherapy.

Today is the first day I am on aderall. i am on the generic amphetamine salt. She only gave me 5 mg. When I read on here, I saw that most people have taken more. I just took my first pill a few minutes ago. i feel a little different. A bit wierd in the head. I have a meeting in a couple of hours. Lets see if I can pay attention. Isn't 5mg a very low dose?

i got this from my primary care physician. I said I thought I might have adhd during a physical. She said she isn't convinced. She also said the medication is dangerous.

The physical came back fine. Nothing wrong with me. What kind of therapy would I get for adhd?
