memory loss

After coratid artery surgery, experiencing memory loss which is not consistently short term or long term, is it possible for the brain to reconfigure areas damaged by particles that passed through the filter and regain the ability to remember?

This discussion is related to short term memory loss.

His surgery was Feb. 5, 2008. I have discussed it with the surgeon of whom I have great confidence.  However, he does not live in the situation to experience the degree of memory frustration. I wanted a second opinion on recovery possibilities.  Thank you.

Hi,

How long ago was the surgery?
Some memory loss can occur after a carotid artery surgery. The exact cause is not known but it quite possibly can be a result of anesthesia. This memory loss does not occur in every body and is dependent on patient’s individual risk.
Most likely the problem will go away with time although sometimes it persists for a long time. I would suggest you to discuss this with your surgeon.
