metronidazole-induced neuropathy?

I took only 2 days' worth of flagyl (metronidazole) 3 months ago.  After the first 2 days, I noticed tingling/burning in my feet, so I didn't take anymore.  It initially lasted about 3 days.  Then, I was completely symptom-free for a month.  Then, the pain came back.  It's been off and on since, but has seemed to have gotten more intense and is sometimes in my hands as well.  I've seen 2 neurologists about it, each one denying to have ever heard of this side effect, even when presented with its documentation.  It's VERY frustrating, and quite scary.  I have a job that is not at all conducive to taking pain meds.  Plus, I don't really want to just medicate the problem when no one has even addressed it or tried to fix it.  Also, every pain med or neuro med has just as high a side effect profile of metronidazole had.  I really don't want to deal with any further complications from medications.  Does anyone know anything about this, how long it lasts, who to see, if there's a doctor that treats it?  Please help!

Hi did you ever find out what happened ? I also was prescribed Flagyl , and on the 3rd day noticed sharp pains , and today after my dose I noticed numb and tingling feeling in my right arm .. Im supposed to take a dose right now , but don't think I will as I see this antibiotic is causing long term problems even after taking the drug !
I think this drug should be taken off the market ! (but then again this only happens to 1% of people taking it ..)
Best of luck to you !

I've heard you can have this with fluoroquinolines like levaquin in rare cases- I'm taking levaquin now and seem ok but it seems these drugs can cause tendon ruptures
