mri results say scattered foci of abnormal signal in the subcortical white matter of both ceribral hemispheres and flow void in the carotid siphon and basilar tip indicating patency. also mucosal thickening in the ethmoid and maxillary sinuses. What does this mean. he had a stroke in nov 2011

Well, without a detailed radiological description of the lesions and clinical evaluation it would be difficult to comment specifically on what these lesions could be due to. These could represent a primary neurological pathology such as demyelination etc or a vascular issue. It would be best to discuss the findings in detail with the concerned radiologist and the treating neurologist.
