muscle biopsy

I was wondering what exactly does a normal biopsy rule out for disorders? Does it rule out MS , PD ? I list would be very helpful....I tried to google it and couldn't find results. I really would like to know as soon as possible what a "normal " muscle biopsy does for sure rule out...so I know what direction to go in from here.

Generally, muscle biopsy can help in distinguishing between muscle weakness/atrophy either being originated from any muscular disease or due to nerve diseases (neuropathy). In addition, other health conditions related to connective tissue disorders, vascular disorders and neurological disorder (MS) can be differentiated through muscle biopsy. Normal muscle biopsy quite likely indicates that health condition is not originated through muscular defects. Hope this information proves helpful to you.

Is it 100% not possible to have Mitochondrial Myopathy if a muscle biopsy reads "normal"?

In mitochondrial myopathy, muscle biopsy shows abnormal stain in muscle fibres (red ragged). In addition, stains also detect absence of mitochondrial enzyme in mitochondrial myopathy. Therefore, in mitochondrial myopathy muscle biopsy can not be read normal. Hope this helps.

wow, it sure does! Thankyou for clearing this up for me ...I really...really needed to understand this and  where to go from here??? I need to go to Boston! Again thank-you so much !!!!! I basically had a muscle biopsy for nothing because it obviously was not done correctly....which make sense .

could I bother you with one more question?
Do you know what test would have been done to have elevated Mitochondrial Myopathies? I had labs done....and that led to the biopsy....Thank-you...(kind of strange to finally get answers on a forum....but, i will take what ever I can get)

my cousin is suffering from muscular myopathy(legs bended) n more.
so i just wanna ask can he get married, n what after marriage can it affect the marriage sex life too???
