I've had this same problem. It usually seems to happen when I'm not paying attention (in the evening or on a weekend, just sitting around). One of the main times it happens is when I have been sitting indian style and the toe some how is bent forward, curling under my foot. My foot will instantly tighten up and the pain is immense. My big toe is the only toe curled under, while the other toes are pointed out same as usual. I have to massage in my arch close to the big toe to get the pain to alleviate. I have had this happen in both feet on many occasions. I have not had any recent issues, however I have had close calls. Sometimes I am able to feel my foot starting to cramp or tighten up and I will quickly pull my toe back or massage my foot to stop it from happening. A few years ago I had told my doctor about it and they tested for diabetes, which I was told I did not have. I also was told it's probably nothing to worry about, but if it should persist to let them know. Since it does not happen very often, I have not seen a doctor about it since.
Hello.
Since when are you having this problem? Can you identify any factors that trigger the muscle tightening?
Does it happen when you are walking or lying down?
It may be a muscle cramp. I can not come to a conclusion without a few more details.
