muscle twitch

muscle twitch

58-good health/runner/lifter/etc-anxiety past 3 yrs due to health problem of wife's and several personal issues:SI joint dislocation, wrist tendonitis, others that resolved.

1 mo ago, Physical therapist was manipulating left scafoid on wrist and noticed thumb twitch almost from wrist to base of thumb.  I had not noticed it before. Twitch has become more and more persistent and has kept me awake. No pain, no loss of strength or dexterity--gives a tremor when holding something loosely like a newspaper.  In previous 8-12 mos--did lot of wrist strengthening/extensor exercises, switched to left hand mouse because right wrist was more sore. Something the PT did? Benign Fasciculation Syndrome? Really becoming bothersome at night. Treatment? Duration?

Hi.

You should get a neurologist's opinion about nerve conduction study. Since you do not have any weakness, but get tremors while holding objects, the nerve supplying the muscles of the thumb is getting irritated somewhere around the wrist. Could happen in inflammatory conditions, like the tendinitis.

This does not look like benign fasciculation syndrome. Do you have fasciculation at any other site ?

Regards
