musclefasciculations

about 9 months ago started with shoulder aches and neck muscle aches and noticed i was little off balance then started with fasiculations soon after. after a few months aches went away and twitching slowed down. I starteg exerciseing about 4 months ago and about a month into that started with fasciculations again. I also developed leg cramps (at this time I was exercising over a month and a half)I went to neurologist he did reflex and strength test said it was benign fasciculatins I needed to learn to deal with stress but I was not under any undo stress before this started. Since then the cramping has gotten worse so have the muscle aches I had a spasm in my neck that was very bad legs get cramps often I am taking Quinine has helped somewhat with night cramps gp did some blood work said everything is fine. Twitching now worse in my upper legs and arms sometimes a little in my face. ones in upper regions don't feel as light feel deeper in muscle. I did stop exercising after first leg cramps so I can't blame that for all this. I think I am tripping more often also do you think I have als I have been worried about that since this all started and I found that I had the symptoms. Neurologist did not feel any further testing was required did not do emg said it would only show that I was having fasciculations Thankyou for your help

Fasciculations can be caused by conditions such as benign fasciculation syndrome, stress, excessive excerise, electrolyte abnormalities, and can also be seen in other conditions. If you are having alot of neck pain, it may be reasonable to check an MRI of the cervical spine. Also, if these symptoms have progressed since you were evaluated by the neurologist it may be reasonable to have a repeat evaluation. If you were unhappy with the first neurologist, I would encourage you to seek another opinion (perhaps at an academic center). Good luck.

Try going to the AboutBFS.com website. Check it out to see if your symptoms seem to match up, then ask your DR for an opinion. I have a lot of what you're talking about...

Im a 22 yr.old female,I have suffered from fasiculaions all over my body for almost 5 years.I have went to about six different doctors all diagnosing me with depression and anxiety.I just recently went on my own to a neuroligist I was then diagnosed with Bfs.I am healthy and to not feel ill at all.I have noticed some fatigue time to time and occassional headaches.I have also noticed tingling in my right hand in my last two fingers. This all started with small fasiculaions in my calves right after I gave birth,Now they are everywhere constantly. With having this for so long and showing no serious signs is it safe to say that I was diagnosed correctly?Just wondering all the time makes it worse.
