muscular cramps...burning sensation in back muscles

muscular cramps...burning sensation in back muscles

I am from India,(23 YRS OLD,MALE)
8 months ago(November 2005),I sat in front of my PC for an hour,and when I stood up a mild pain started below my right scapula ,which grew to unbearable proportion in an hour,it even spread to the frontside(right chest) so much so, that I couldn't walk .The pain was similar to a muscle cramp.It was night at that time and it was cold that day(10 degree celsius).The pain reduced a little in 2 days,but it persisted for a month.then it happened in the same way to my left side also.I consulted many physicians some of whom gave antibiotics ,guessing it as infection in the lungs.Even a small work like lifting a suitcase ,makes the muscles in the back to vibrate involuntarily for some time.Nothing defective was seen in the X-rays and Blood reports.A slight walk or a small amount of work increase the pains ,the muscles in the back on both sides get stiffened.I had even undergone (Short wave ditherapy).An injection was given into my left scapular muscle by a Orthopaedic surgeon,but no use.Now from the past 5 months cramps and stiffening have spread to my neck(back side of the neck & sides).The back of the head and neck seem to experience pressure even by the weight of my head when I sleep on my back.A neurophysician a month ago prescribed these medicines(Benadryl 25mg(Diphenhydramine Hydrochloride Capsules),Tizan2(Tizanidine Hydrochloride Tablets),Xenobid tablets,so far no positive sign.I used to do exercise at Home regularly.But I used do pullups by hanging to a sunshade.Tell me the diagnosis..

First of all keep in mind that I am unable to diagnose you since I am unable to examine you, this forum is for educational purposes. The symptoms you describe are consistent with Neuralgic Amyotrophy. This condition is not completely understood, but is thought to be immune related in nature. It causes shoulder pain that is very intense and then weakness and atrophy of the shoulder girdle (usually the rhomboids, muscles that connect the scapulas in your back). It is caused by inflammation and injury to the braichial plexus (nerves between your neck and clavicle). I would suggest an EMG to evaluate for chronic changes, by a neurologist familiar with Neuralgic Amyotrophy. In the acute setting steroids or even IVIG have been used for treatment. Chronic managemnt consists of physical therapy and medications for neuropathic pain. I hope this has been helpful.

read about upper crossed syndrome... seems like you have it. I did. go to websites by Erik Dalton to learn about the syndrome and jolie bookspan to learn how to fix it. it is a front/back muscle imbalance. I too had the pain in my chest muscles-- they get short and tight from hunched over, rounded shoulder posture, and the rhomboids (and others) can't compete because they're stretched and weak so they spasm. you need to do chest muscle stetches (no strengthening of the pecs-- they are already too strong) and you need to strengthen your mid back muscles. you'll feel better in a few weeks.
