my knee still hurts what should i do?

well about 3 years ago at a basketball camp i hurt my knee and went to hospital (ER), they said it was tendonitis then earlier last year during volleyball season i went to an orthopedic doctor because of frequent pain and sweeling, and he diagnosed me with Patella Femoral Pain Syndrome, but he still didn't know so he told me to wear a brace and ice it down after practice and then this year i went back to the same doctor almost in tears it was terrible, and he decided i should go get an MRI and i did and all that came up on the charts was fluid under my tendon, i'm still being faced with pain,cracking,and weakness in my knee....

     How are you? People who have a swollen knee can either have fluid within the knee joint itself, or in the surrounding soft tissue. The first step in determining the cause of the fluid accumulation is to determine where the fluid is located. Fluid in the knee could be due to acute or chronic injuries. In your case I think it is a chronic process and the possible causes could be arthritis or infection or gout.

When fluid is outside of the actual joint space, and in the soft tissues surrounding the knee, the most common cause is prepatellar bursitis. This condition causes fluid accumulation in the bursa just on top of the kneecap.

Treatment is directed against the underlying cause, which has lead to fluid accumulation in the joint. I would suggest that you visit a orthopaedician and discuss the possibilities and follow his advise.
