Could you elaborate more on the pain? If there was no trauma to your hand, this could be nerve related. Pins and needles sensation or paresthesia could also be attributed to central nervous system disorders, connective tissue diseases, metabolic diseases, infection and even peripheral vascular diseases. It would be best to have this evaluated by your doctor for proper diagnosis. Cold weather does not usually cause pain as it is. Direct clinical examination is important. Tests may also be done to help rue out the differentials mentioned.
Take care and regards.
