my dauhter died one yr. & six mos. ago of some sort of seizures.the dr.s were never able to diagnose what kind.she was 34 yrs.old.i have been trying so hard to find out what kind,as i am raising my grandsons.we do not have any family histories of seizure disorders.they came on suddenly in the last  5 yrs.they were odd to me ,because she would be walking and just drop where she was standing.she would be unconcious anywhere to 1 hr. to 27 hrs.no medicines seemed to help her.she became extremely withdrawn ,black circles under her eyes, her skin would turn yellow from time to time.the last three yrs. i bathed her like a child, brush her hair, control her meds, and money and the care of her sons.she lost so much weight that her bones looked like they were going to pop out.i got her a memory foam mattress, because she was in so much severe pain.when she would come to ,she didn't remember anything and would suffer super severe headaches to the point of screaming.she had no warning before it hit her.she had hmo insurance, so they didn't hurry to help her find good dr.s.i took her to every one i could get appts. with.there are alot of excellent dr.s, but they didn't take cencal- medi-cal.i just know there is a name for this.i need some answers and closer , plus i need to put it in my grandsons medical records just in case.she used to to be a singer ,had a gorgeous voice ,very vibrant and outgoing.just beautiful.she did not flail around or swallow her tongue ,no body movement during  these seizures .then she had been eating in her bedroom one night, i walked in to check on her and she was dead.she had seized with food in her mouth and choked to death.please can you help me?                                       sincerely,
                                                                                           kay

From what I understand, skin yellows as a result of either liver failure (over time or acute onset) or adrenal dysfunction. If your daughter was growing so thin that her bones were nearly poking through her skin, I'd guess that adrenal dysfunction is more likely. Addison's disease causes yellowing (to the point of looking tan) of the skin, I believe.

What medication was she on? How long did she experience these symptoms before her death? Do either of her parents have a history of diabetes or adrenal dysfunction in their family? Was she conscious during the entirety of these seizures, or was she unconscious as soon as one began?

I'm so sorry for your loss, and I hope you are able to find the answers you're looking for.

Hi.

I can't comment medically what caused your daughters condition but it seems likely that she aspirated the food during that last fit blocking her airway. As a recovery nurse I know that this can happen very quickly. I just wanted to say I`m very sorry you lost your daughter I`m sure that there is no pain greater than this.

Best Wishes Beverley

thank you for responding.yes she did asphixiate while eating and seized while swallowing, the food dumped into her lungs.the cocner said it was over within a minute.he said she did not suffer.i don't know how long she was gone before i went in and checked her.her lips were black, but she looked very peaceful.no more pain ,no more hallucinations of spiders and snakes crawling on her......
                                                                                thank you

This is just a general opinion.  Your daughter may have had a blood disease of some kind, causing anemia, unconsciousness, and so forth.  Also, it could have been acquired, or possibly familial, the latter of which you would want to know.  So, you could have your own blood genetically tested for carriers of various blood diseases, and possibly the grandchildren.  Those are costly, so might be worth it to talk to a specialist who understands blood diseases first, so you can narrow down what her symptoms indicate she may have had.
