my son

my son

My son has just turned 18 With his independence and college ahead of him i cannot help it but to wonder about unanswered medical events that happened to him when he had just turned 6.
Early in the AM I walked into his room. he was lying in a fetal position and shaking all over. He had night sweats during the past few nights, but did not appear as if he had a fever.  He was diagnosed as having a seizure and the doctor prescribed ? he took the drug for less than 2 weeks, I was concerned how it affected his personality, (listless and distant) and moreover, not convinced than he should be labeled epileptic, and after consulting with his doctor took him off the medication. Shortly after, it became apparent that his energy level was still decreasing. Frequent calls to the doctor were answered with "not to worry'.  When he developed a rash complete with eye pinkness, i carried my son into the doctors office and finally the doctor was concerned. upon examination, he had a very enlarged spleen. Blood tests were run at St.Josephs Hospital in nearby Paterson, NJ. They all tested negative. More blood test were performed, all inconclusive. The final diagnosos was based on symptoms, not positive tests- Epstein barr virus was diagnosed. For years he suffered from sudden drops in his energy level but basically was an average kid.   Approx. 6 months after his diagnosos, i noticed that his right foot was turning in. Consultation with a neurologist proved inconclusive. It has remained the same.
My question is; is it possible that all of this was related? To my knowledge, he has never had another seizure, however the fear has never been out of  my mind especially now with him going off to college.
One other element was present before the seizure; an exotic pet snake purchased from a local store which he handled frequently. Any chance this was the cause of it all?

I doubt if any of this is in any way related, the snake I would rule out
as there really is no evidence it could be involved.
The lack of energy and enlarged spleen sounds like Epstein Barr infection,
this frequently caused prolonged problems with lack of energy.
He may have had one seizure at age six but if he has been free of seizures
for the past 12 years this has obviously settled.
I cannot say what the foot turning in was all about, obviously it was not
too serious if his neurologist was not worried and it causeed no
subsequest problems.
In summary he may have had a seizure, possibly glandular fever ( Epstein Barr)
and a transient problem with his foot turning in, none of these are connected
in my opinion.
