nerve pain in hand following dupuytren's surgery

I had surgery for Dupuytren's about 8 weeks ago.  Most people are all set by now.  However, I've had two major flares.  One at 3 weeks following surgery and another one at 7.5 weeks following surgery.  Hand swells up and the pain ( severe burning) is intolerable.

Each time I have a flare, I go back to square one ( or three ) in the recovery process of 10 steps, let's say.  There can be permanent damage to the hand ( stiffness, etc.) if things don't start moving along soon.

I have now seen a pain specialist and he and the orthopedic surgeon would like me to have a nerve block so I won't continue to have such severe burning pain. ( I have burning pain most of the time but when it's OK, it's at a 4-5 level of pain; not a 9 out of 10)

Has anyone had a nerve block to stop the pain sensation in the hand?  If so, I'd love it if you could share your stories with me.

Where there was only a 1% chance or less that I would have this awful reaction following surgery, I am not about to leap into another medical procedure as they all have their own risks.  But boy would I love to have this pain gone..... or on a much less severe level so I can progress in physical therapy and get this hand moving so it will be functional in the next few months.

Thanks!

Anyone else out there with anything to add to this ?

My dupuytrens surgery was 7 weeks ago and I'm going through the same thing.

I'm using tramadol right now, and it does help......but not nearly enough.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Hello

Principally you have ,so i think , two methods to reduce your pain.Realistic is ,that the pain never completely disappear.
When you describe a " burning pain " after Dupuytren-surgery ,then the reason must be  a nerval leason of Nervus medianus. It could also be a scarification around this nervus and then there erupts pressure on this nervus.Eventually ,you can try to make a decompression, but the risk of new scarifications is very high.To make a nerve block is of course the last chance to get a maximum reduce of pain.
But before this takes apart,i would test a drug with the generic name "pregabalin" .In Germany and Switzerland the name is "Lyrica " . When you take this drug in a professionell scheme,i am shure you can reduce your pain from level 5 to level 2 or 3 .

With best regards
