neuralgia diagnosis

My momma has an excruciating pain on one side of her face that feels like burning and twisting on the right side of her face .It starts out just twitching.then it goes into a full spasm.Which she cries through uncontrolabley It happens mainly at nite in between 9:30 and 11:30.If she is asleep it dont happen.The neuro Drs said that it isnt Trigeminial neuralgia because the pain is constant.for about 40 to 45 mins.The Tegretol has caused some bad side effects and we are weaning her off of it 100mg every other day It has caused breathing problems,anxiety and depression.She had a face lift several years ago,But her face would draw before she had thaat done.This has just started with the untolerable pain for a month or two now.We are waiting to get into the Mayo clinic in 2 months,But we need help now.I am so scared for her and it is really taking an effect on me as well.The anxiety is terrible and at times i find myself watching her and having trouble catching a deep breath myself.I've got to be strong for her.But this is really hurting me to see her suffer like this. Please if any suggestions let me know.I am desperate for help.Thankyou for your time.

Trigeminal neuralgia (TN) or tic douloureux (also known as prosopalgia) is a neuropathic disorder of one or both of the facial trigeminal nerves. It causes episodes of intense pain in any or all of the following: the ear, eye, lips, nose, scalp, forehead, teeth or jaw on one side of the face.

Most suffers of TN do not present with any outwardly noticeable symptoms, though some will exhibit brief facial spasms during an attack. As a result, it is often difficult for friends and family members of TN suffers to accept that their loved one, who was previously healthy, is now suffering from intractable pain.

Surgery is an option and discuss with your neurosurgeon. Take care!
