neuralgia how to cope with pain

hi iv now been diagnosed with trigemenial neuralgia after been in constant pain since july, I had bells palsy last year which has caused this sometimes the pain is not as bad but some days its really sharp and takes my breath away how can i cope with this pain any suggestions all welcome. Any herbal remedies help Im on painkillers but waiting to change the ones im on as these dont work at the moment. Anything I can do to reduce the pain been so severe ??? How do people work with this, at the moment im on sick due to the job I do as its call centre and a lot of talking sets the pain off and due to having to get tests and seeing consultants and so on its hard .
