neuritis?

by dwfranks, Oct 15, 2009 10:54PM
My daughter was practicing karate and 6 months ago got slammed to the mat on her right side and experienced severe pain that we thought may be a broken rib. We got x-rays and such and the doctors told her there wasn't any break and that is may be neuritis, a nerve problem. They said rest would heal it - it has been 6 months and she still has pain when she breaths! Working out she says makes it worse...what specialist should we see to get a better diagnosis and remedy? Thanks for any guidance! Dad

This discussion is related to Pain - is it a pinched nerve.

Hi,
How is your daughter? It is good that her x-ray and other tests were fine.  If the initial diagnosis was neuritis, it is best that you have her checked by a neurologist for proper evaluation. Make her rest and try to make her avoid any exercise if she is in pain. Complete neurological examination and additional tests may be done to determine the underlying cause. Take care and do keep us posted.
