neuro problems ??????

my 9 year old daughter has epilepsy is being treated with epilim chrono 100mg 2xdaily and ethosuximide 2xdaily  she is well under control for the epilepsy  she has learning difficulties, dyslexia, possible autism/aspurgers  within the past year she is complaining of tiredness even after a refreshing sleep she is tired when she walks she tires quickly and has been told she has low muscle tone .  she often complains of knee pain leg pain and elbow and shoulder pain . this is causing a few problems in her daily routine.  she had a occupational therapists report done which stated low muscle tone , lacks tonic control which influences co contraction  her dr has sent her to a rhumatoid specialist to rule out any underlying condition does anyone have any idea what she could be suffering from

Hi there. Your daughter is on antiepileptics valproate and ethosuximide, possible side effect could be muscle aches and joint pains. Since she has been investigated and found to have learning disorder, possibly autistic or asperger’s, an association with muscle dystrophies, like duchenne’s could be possible though rare. She needs to be sent to a rheumatologist and also investigated for a muscular dystrophy as a possibility for the muscle weakness and decreased tone that she is experiencing.  Hope to hear a feedback after this visit.
