Cholinesterase inhibitors stop the breakdown of this neurotransmitter to increase the acetylcholine in the brain and improve brain function in MCI. These improve cognitive functions and slow the conversion of MCI to dementia. Some of these drugs are donepezil,rivastigmine and galantamine.
