  I've seen posts referring to AChR. What is the "striated muscle AB" part of the test and how does it fit in with AChR?
  Thanks,
  Peggy
===========================================================================
Striated muscle AB or skeletal muscle AB referrs to antibody studies in MG that have been linked to thymic tissue problems. The thymus gland has been thought to have a role in MG and specifically thymomas or thymas tumors. The problem with this test is that if the antibody tests is positive it does not help determine if a thymoma is present since patients with and without thymomas have been found to carry this AB. If the AB is negative, however, they probably do not have a thymoma. I know it is confussing but I hope that helps.
