new referred nerve activity

anybody dealt with a medical issue as this.  l4 l5 fusion with hardware 2009. no complaint. 5/25/2011 knee surgery meniscus tear and removal. chrondral and pattellia injury required shaving. surgery then pt, orthovista shots x'3, cortisone shots x's 2. knee still painful, locking and given away use cane and knee brace.saw Dr. 11/14/11Dr. will order another MRI he believes the pain, catching ,is referred nerve activity coming from prior back problems and fusion surgery? What treatment's would any one ever had to help with pain and mobility as it is a nerve{?} problem.  He does not think a total knee replacement would work with residual nerve pain. I never had any problem with knee after fusion, limited stooping but could bend knee tie shoes now i cannot. All came about after knee surgery/ the surgery was suppose to be a piece of cake now i am worse off than before cannot sleep with throbbing knee.
