numbness on left side of body

I'm 37 years old and have a history of  varicose veins but am generally healthy.  For weeks I've been experiencing a dull pain on the underside of my left knee and thought for sure I was just getting a varicose vein (I have one on my right leg).  A few nights ago I had an excruciating leg cramp in my left leg that lasted about 30 minutes and left my leg feeling like it have a charlie horse for days later.  Now today I've been experiencing increasing numbness and tingling in my left leg & foot.  I've also had recent physical therapy for upper and lower back pain.  We're leaving for vacation for a few days and I don't have the time to visit my regular doctor.  Is this something that needs immediate attention or can I wait till I get back to make an appointment?  What could be the possible causes based on my symptoms.

Hi.

Was there a diagnosis made for the back pain? Was an MRI done on the spine?

There is a possibility that the symptoms you are experiencing now are related to an impinged nerve or nerve compression probably secondary to degenerative disc disease, disc bulging, or disc herniation. This is the reason why you are experiencing the pain, numbness and tingling of the left lower extremity.

At the present time, it may not seem to be an emergent condition. You could go on your vacation provided that you do not engage in any activities that would put undue pressure on your spine and leg.

After your vacation, make it a point to consult a physician to evaluate your symptoms properly.

Good luck.

Hello.

Varicose veins should be visible on your limbs. Considering the history of back pain, it is advisable to get an orthopedician's opinion and a nerve conduction study to rule out any nerve problem.
