On 8/10/07 I had an emergent left carotid artery endarterectomy with patch.Recent tests (doppler @ mra) indicated there is no antherosclerotic plaque in the left common carotid artery. The distal portion of the left internal carotid artery is occluded. There is no significant antherosclererotic plaque noted in the left exteral artery. Antegrade flow is noted in the left vertable artery. I am on Plavix for  platlets and Coumdin for atrial fribulation, both of which I began in August.Am I a candidate for angiplasty and/or a stent? Readings on the prox.and mid ica's were low (53/10 cm / sec.).
