odd sound in muscles when used

i have a nerve injury.....and the nerves along the side of my face and neck are affected. I can hear a wierd tightening like a sandpaper sound in my left ear when i extend my neck downward and then back upward....i can also hear it in my shoulder when i shrug but its only on the left side where the nerve damage is.....my question is... is this noise from nerve damage in my inner ear or is it actually coming from the neck and that sound actually exists? its really scary because i can hear it only on left side.....my left ear feels muffled alot and i have bad ringing in both ears. i also have loss of sensation in face, and twitches everywhere in body....top of scalp is tender and hurts in one certain spot. left eyelid has also swelled in the past month twice, and gone away both times in a matter of a couple days.
