orthopedic or nuerologest?

i have pain in my right shoulder down to my right thumb with loss of power in my arm and hand,  about 3 weeks ago i felt a pain in my right side of my butt cheek,now there is pain thru my leg and into my right foot.  also when i take a deeep breath the pain goes down my leg, also when i sneeze it feels like someone stabbed me with an ice pick in the back of my leg,  all this pain but my back feels fine.  ps in 1986 i had back surgery  thank you floyd

The symptoms you are describing could be related to a disc problem within your spine, but there are other disorders which can affect the peripheral nervous system. I would recommend seeing a neurologist who can assess where in the nervous system your problem is. The neurologist can then order the appropriate tests and refer to a surgeon if needed. If the symptoms in your arm are less then 2 weeks old you should start by seeing your primary care doctor as soon as possible. If this is a disc problem you may benefit from an anti-inflammatory medication that your docotr could prescribe.

Just thought I might recommend a more conservative approach of trying a chiropractor for a short time to see if this helps.
